Pioneer agri-carbon project gets Verra-certified

AgriCarbon, a carbon farming programme in South Africa, has become the continent's first regenerative farm initiative to receive Verra-certified carbon credits. Verra measures greenhouse gas emission reductions and soil organic carbon removals resulting from improved agricultural practices.

  • As the first VM0042 project listed with Verra, AgriCarbon has introduced a scientifically validated soil carbon model specifically tailored for southern Africa.

Far from Ukraine, Russia is set to boost Tanzania’s forest conservation efforts through cloud-connected technology. This partnership will see Moscow supply high-quality drones, customised satellite systems and specialised training for local experts in the use of modern forest surveillance tools and software.

  • Aiming for greater regional influence, Moscow will support Dar es Salaam in strengthening forest conservation and management, with a focus on protecting resources and promoting ecotourism.

  • Forests cover 48 million hectares, accounting for 55% of Tanzania's land area. They play a significant role in the national economy and support many livelihoods.

The Lewa Safari Marathon is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, having raised $9 million since 2000 to support wildlife conservation and community development projects in Kenya. With Safaricom and Huawei as corporate sponsors, this year’s event is set to achieve record-breaking contributions and global participation.
